One basket, four metals
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium respond to different forces. Holding all four spreads precious-metals exposure across monetary and industrial demand.
Auxite Basket — live
Fixed grams of each metal, valued at live spot prices.
| Metal | Grams | Spot / g | Value | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 0.3793 g | $125.61 | $47.64 | 59.9% |
| Silver | 13.2743 g | $1.58 | $20.93 | 26.3% |
| Platinum | 0.1667 g | $45.90 | $7.65 | 9.6% |
| Palladium | 0.1111 g | $30.29 | $3.37 | 4.2% |
The grams are fixed; weights change as prices move. Spot prices refresh every few minutes.
Why four metals instead of one?
Gold — the monetary anchor
Demand comes largely from central banks and investors looking for a store of value, which is why gold often behaves differently from industrial metals.
Silver — monetary and industrial
Part store of value, part industrial input: electronics and solar panels use a large share of each year's supply.
Platinum — industrial
Used mainly in autocatalysts, chemical processes, hydrogen technology and jewellery, so its price follows industrial activity.
Palladium — concentrated demand
Dominated by catalytic converters for petrol vehicles, with mine supply concentrated in a few countries.
What a basket changes
- No single-metal bet: a move in one market is diluted by the other three.
- Exposure to both store-of-value and industrial demand cycles.
- One holding instead of four separate positions.
What it does not change
- Precious-metal prices can fall, and all four metals can fall at the same time.
- The basket holds fixed grams and is not rebalanced, so its weights drift with prices.
